Project A design doc
This planet might be wild but the fauna is anything but. There is some strange hive mind holding these creatures together and it thinks you would make for a delightful meal. Brace yourself for a level that will make you run for your life as you make your way to your ship's crashed teleporter room promising a translocation to a more hospitable area.
Enemy spawners (not in the walkthrough but simple enough as I've figured out) will be set so the player while not dying too quickly will be forced to stay on the move being kept alive by a limited supply of health kits.
The enemy prefab variants for these spawners will have increased agro range and move speed. Melee lunge range might be reduced and ranged enemies will be rare.
The player character will be modified so that it is more difficult for them to attack and move at the same time and to kill multiple enemies at once.
Momentary power ups scattered throughout the level will be essential for survival. But picking them up and entering certein other specific spots will have the enemies "break open" doors unleashing them upon the player.
The first part of the level will introduce the concept to the player as more and more doors are opened and enemies unleashed. It will be relatively short and intense to allow the player to acclimatize.
The second part of the level will be longer and feature some ranged enemies and power-ups to add spice. Some basic puzzles and jumping puzzles will also be introduced to make the effort more interesting. Mostly an exercise in long term health management.
The last part of the level will feature a long vertical sequence of horizontal platforms (a hive pyramid built on a ruin of some ancient civilization's city) each progressively smaller and packed with enemies. At the top will be the game goal, a teleporter teleporting the player into a safe area.
